Compostable bags should not be used for general waste.
Compostable bags are designed to be composted along with organic waste, such as food scraps and garden waste, in a composting facility or with the right bag, in your garden compost patch.
Using compostable bags for general waste, which typically consists of non-biodegradable materials, would not be appropriate.
The general waste will escape as the bag composts away and end up released into the environment.
If this option of bin liner for household waste became mainstream, the detrimental affect on the planet would be so much worse than the current system, even though the polythene bags currently used are not ideal.
It is important to follow the guidelines for waste disposal set by your local waste management authority to ensure proper waste management practices.
